Foundation Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling Skills & Theory | 1-year part time access course

Psychodynamic counselling initially evolved from Sigmund Freud’s theories on the unconscious and the importance of early childhood experiences that go on to shape our present day relationships.  As such throughout the course you will  develop knowledge and understanding about yourself as you delve into the theory of personal development and the underlying principles of the psychodynamic counselling approach.

It aims to provide those who wish to develop counselling skills in work-based and other settings with the skills and knowledge, which will enhance and support their work.

The Foundation Certificate also provides the grounding for further training to become a professional counsellor. Whether you choose to undertake our Foundation Certificate alone or if you would like to continue the journey to becoming a fully accredited counsellor; our Foundation course is the first step.

We are proud to offer:

  • the opportunity for self-discovery and growth
  • personalised teaching with small classroom sizes
  • a nurturing environment with highly experienced tutors
  • a hands on approach to learning with a mix of theory and role play
  • over 45 years of expertise in anxiety, depression and psychodynamic training
  • and a chance to become a part of a charity that is passionate about promoting positive mental health and gives back to the community with affordable counselling sessions

“The course not only teaches theory and skills but encourages self reflection and growth.”
Pam Firth, Foundation Certificate Programme Tutor
