Are you ready to take the first step to support others?
Training to become a counsellor or learning relationship skills can be extremely beneficial and rewarding to you both personally and professionally.
It is recognised that these capabilities have become an indispensable and much valued part of modern day life and provide a way of making a genuine difference to people. The Counselling Foundation welcomes all who are interested in taking the first step on this journey.
We are at the forefront of responding to change in the counselling world and our training is current and reflects this. We offer a breadth of courses and subject to application and selection, we can help you have a career in delivering a counselling service to clients in our own practice or acquire the necessary counselling skills that you might like to apply to your current role.
It is approximated that for every one person that seeks support via a therapeutic talking experience, ten other people are indirectly affected, that’s a lot – not to mention the positive impact you could have on your own life.
So what are you waiting for?
Unlike large learning institutions our Counselling Training Centre has a greater involvement with every student in their learning journey. Every student is an individual in their learning journey from their first enquiry through to qualifying as a counsellor.
Our qualified students are so satisfied in their learning experience that they return to us to provide tuition for new students. We are proud to have helped hundreds of people pursue their personal and career interests in counselling. Our graduates work in all sectors of the counselling industry and some go on to further specialist training.
Training is available throughout Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire including Watford, St Albans, Luton, Welwyn Garden City and Bedford.
The Training Centre provides additional learning days to help students interact and learn from experienced senior staff.
You will train in real counselling centres where clinicians work closely to ensure you get the best and most up to date theoretical training and clinical experience. The Training Centre and Counselling Centres are unique as they work together to provide many students with clinical experience and theoretical experience at our sites.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, our courses will be delivered virtually until it is over and when it is judged safe to do so, we will re-open our face to face training. Counselling clients for those on clinical placements will also be delivered virtually or over the phone for as long as required. Please check the website for updates as we are reviewing this regularly in line with the government’s guidance.
At The Counselling Foundation Training Centre you will begin working with clients on the Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling course.
Sourcing a clinical placement is usually very difficult, however, one of the advantages of counselling training at The Counselling Foundation Training Centre is that we provide guidance and support in finding a clinical placement.
We train within a live counselling environment to develop students in clinical work as well as theory. You may be placed within one of our five counselling centres or at one of our externally approved counselling agencies.
As part of our excellent student support, we offer flexible timetables designed to work around family commitments and employment.
We treat our trainees as individuals and encourage you to grow in a nurturing environment, having small group sizes for a unique but diverse experience. Our tutors bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from many different areas and provide hands on support throughout your journey.
The Training Centre also supports the professional aspects of going into private practice and offer opportunities across the Foundation to teach, supervise or become a member of the clinical staff to help you build a ‘portfolio’ career. We also encourage you to get involved with our charity.
If you wish to apply for a course, please send your application form to firstname.lastname@example.org . If you have any questions regarding training, please note that we are only able to answer email queries rather than calls currently. Thank you for your understanding at this time.
