The training department has a diverse team of trainers, all of whom are active counselling practitioners. All have completed in-depth training and are members of accrediting professional bodies including the BACP and UKCP. Tutors deliver courses both theoretically and experientially, in line with the curriculum incorporating their own personal style and specialist areas of interest.

Karen (she/her) leads the talented and experienced training team at the Foundation. She trained at the Foundation so has an understanding of the student experience. She enjoys supporting students through their individual training journey and has a background in providing professional training. Karen has been a Diploma Programme Tutor at the Foundation for the last four years. She also runs a local private practice where she sees adolescent and adult clients. Karen is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

For the last ten years, Rachel (she/her) has worked in various roles at The Counselling Foundation, working in the IAPT service for the NHS and as a seminar tutor. Rachel now works as the Programme Tutor for the Foundation Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling. She is also the clinical lead and supervisor for another counselling agency in Hertfordshire and is a Senior Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Karen (she/her) trained at The Counselling Foundation and also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Working with Adolescents at WPF. She worked as a school counsellor and was part of the assessment team at the Foundation for a number of years. Now she works as a Diploma Programme Tutor and helps to manage the student led CPD Programme. She has a private practice working with adults and adolescents in St Albans and helps to run a small independent therapy practice in Bedfordshire. Karen is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Susie (she/her) completed her training at The Counselling Foundation and post qualifying remained within the organisation working as a counsellor, part of the assessment team and the CPD team helping to deliver events and webinars to counselling staff and trainees. Now she works as the Diploma Program Tutor. Susie has a private practice working with adults and is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Valentina (she/her) is a group analyst, a training supervisor, and a teacher. Initially trained as a clinical psychologist, she has since worked therapeutically and in a supervisory role with both individuals and groups – in education, organisational settings and in private practice.
She has enjoyed being a part of the Foundation Training team since 2010, in both of her roles, as the Advanced Diploma Programme and Seminar Tutor.
She is a member of the Institute of Group Analysis, the Council for Psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis and is accredited by the UKCP.
