Do you know what it’s like to live in Hertfordshire?
Hertfordshire is perceived as an affluent county – however Hertfordshire Community Foundation (HCF) reports on the pockets of real deprivation that exist. For example Borehamwood Cowley Hill (Hertsmere) and Northwick (Three Rivers) are cited as among the most deprived areas in the UK.
The HCF share a snapshot of the challenges which face our communities including, homelessness, poverty, sexual offences and poor living conditions. These are all factors which contribute to anxiety and depression.
- One in ten people in Hertfordshire live in areas of deprivation.
- 25% of residents in Hertfordshire have a mental health condition at some point in their lives and people with prolonged mental illness are at risk of dying up to 20 years earlier.
The Foundation are here to offer support through our counselling and specialist bereavement service, which is supported by the HCF.
