What inspired you most about working with our charity?
I have always been passionate about preventative health and living a balanced lifestyle but without access to the right tools and support this is hard for most to achieve. In recent years I have seen many organisations start to put mental ill health at the top of their HR agenda. With 5 million employees taking time off work each year, it’s reported 31% is due to a mental health issue. This staggering statistic is only set to grow with millennialis displaying the highest levels of anxiety, depression and thoughts of suicide of any generation. 50% of mental health problems start before the age of 14 yet 70% of children and adolescents who experience problems have not had appropriate interventions. I believe that now is a great time to work with The Foundation to expand its services to enable more communities to get access to care. I, like many others have my own personal story and have experienced stigma and when I was presented with the opportunity to work with The Foundation I felt it was the perfect time to join the team.
What are you looking forward to most about working for our charity?
I’ve always had a desire to work in the charitable sector, so I am looking forward to working in an organisation that employs passionate and dedicated people whose soul purpose is the wellbeing of others. I am also looking forward to assisting the team to develop new services, which will help educate, strengthen resilience and improve an individual’s overall awareness of their mental and physical wellbeing.
What strengths will you bring to the Foundation team?
I have experience working with health and wellbeing providers in various dynamic roles, where there has been a need to align all areas of the business to meet the organisations objective. I have developed employee benefit and wellbeing services via the use of technology and believe that digital technology can enhance communication, remote access to therapies, visibility of health records, signposting of appropriate interventions and tracking/measuring of progress. I have also built strong relationships with industry experts that I will be able to draw upon as we shape the new services, ensuring we meet the needs of the different communities.
