The Counselling Foundation – A Foundation for Personal Growth.
Passionate about promoting positive mental health.
The Counselling Foundation is a leading charity that has provided counselling and counselling training for the better mental health of our communities in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire for over forty years.
Our charitable mission enables people on low incomes to have access to affordable, long term counselling which is not widely available elsewhere in the two counties. Our counselling training service promotes personal development and growth whilst supporting communities through the provision of further qualified counsellors providing a talking therapy.
Our charitable objectives
To provide the public with:
- relief of suffering from mental or emotional difficulties by the provision of therapeutic counselling,
- education and training of persons in the practice of therapeutic counselling, and
- the promotion of better mental health and psychological well being.
Founded in 1974, the Foundation has become one of the largest counselling and counselling training centres outside of London in St Albans, Luton, Stevenage, Broxbourne and Bedford. We have 150 staff members and counsellors delivering over 30,000 counselling sessions a year in order to enhance the wellbeing of our communities. We strive to get people the help they need regardless of income and aim to stamp out the stigma surrounding mental health.
Our management team mostly have a clinical background so we are unique in having people working and running our organisation who understand counselling and are passionate about this work. Within our team of 150 are many of our former trainees and volunteers who enjoy giving us their time – we enable people to help themselves and others and that’s why we’re here.
We have recently finalised our strategy for the next three years and how we’ll be working towards our above objectives which you can read by clicking on the icon to the left. If you have any questions about our mission, strategy or just in general, please get in touch using the form below.
