Counselling in our Stevenage Centre is set to receive a funding boost from the Tesco Bags of Help community grant scheme despite the suspension of blue token voting in Tesco stores.
Unfortunately due to the developing COVID-19 outbreak, Tesco took the decision to suspend Bags of Help voting and remove blue tokens in their stores to reduce physical touch points for colleagues and customers.
However thanks to the Groundworks team and their commitment to supporting local causes, they chose to share the funds equally between the three nominated charities rather than wait for an in-store vote from customers.
We have more clients than ever needing our counselling support during the pandemic and the £1,166 funding that we have received will go a long way to allowing our clients to continue talking with their counsellor every week.
The Foundation will continue to offer therapeutic help by switching from face-to-face counselling to a phone or a simple to use online webcam or phone camera service until the current emergency is over.
The Tesco Bags of Help store vote was due to start in Stevenage on 1 April.
